Four months on from launching its burger and beef products in Australia, Future Farm has announced its vegan Tvna will be hitting the shelves in Coles supermarkets across the country.
As with their burger and beef products, the Brazilian food tech company’s plant-based tuna, “Tvna”, is made with a combination of soy, pea and chickpea proteins. It is gluten-free, GMO-free and free of hormones and artificial preservatives. Olive oil, microalgae oil, radish and omega-3 fatty acids are added to enhance the flavour and nutrition of the 11.3 grams of protein per serve.
Using its True Texture Technology, Future Farm aims to offer consumers, from vegans to climatarians, an “updated” version of meat. Future Farm founder Marcos Leta endeavours to advance the technology to the point where it will “make the need for us to eat animal meat obsolete.”
As one of the most consumed protein sources in the world, and an endangered species, the challenge of creating a sustainable alternative to tuna was one Future Farm was determined to resolve. Future Farm Pacific General Manager, Lisa Asher, said Future Tvna represents its “most innovative product yet,” not just for its taste and texture but also for its alignment with the company’s commitment to fight for “sustainability and biodiversity.”
You can listen to Lisa Asher discuss the company’s rapid growth, and its sustainability mission, in the Future Alternative podcast below.
