A vegan burger patty was selected as the winner of the 2023 FMCG Business Product of the Year award.
Angel Bay – a brand under New Zealand meat producer ANZCO Foods — won the award for its Gourmet Veggie Burger Patties.
“We received many innovative and exciting entries for the FMCG Business Product of The Year Award, but Angel Bay Gourmet Veggie Burger Patties stood out and ticked quite a few boxes,” said FMCG Business Head of Content Tamara Rubanowski. “It’s great to see Angel Bay’s plant-based innovation, which is right on trend.”
The award being given to a plant-based meat brand indicates a trend in the winners for this section – last year’s award went to NZ brand Let’s Eat’s range of plant-based burger patties and nuggets.
Angel Bay says the main ingredients in the vegan burger patties are Edamame soybeans, chickpeas, quinoa, cauliflower, spinach, and mushrooms. It also claims the new burger is gluten, dairy and egg free, and contains 7g of protein per patty.
FMCG Business is a B2B magazine and news platform targeting New Zealand’s key FMCG decision makers, purchasers, and influencers.
