After petitioning from dairy-averse consumers, Streets has launched a vegan friendly version of its iconic Aussie ice cream, the Golden Gaytime.

Streets promises that the new product closely replicates the 60 year old original, including the biscuit coating and toffee flavoured centre. The company has challenged consumers to #tastethedifference by trying the new ice cream and posting their verdict on social media.

Streets spokesperson Annie Lucchitti said that as important as the flavour of the new Gaytime is, the launch is about “opening up our product to more Australians, no matter your dietary needs or choices.”

In 2021, a petition to change the name of the classic ice cream was met with a counter-petition to keep the name and introduce a vegan version. Streets responded, and the Golden Gaytime Plant Based has arrived in time for peak Australian ice cream season.

Available now at Coles and IGA stores around the country.
