US plant-based meat producer, Beyond Meat, has rolled out its new steak product in stores across the US.

The new product adds to Beyond’s line of plant-based meat products which includes Beyond Burgers, Beyond Mince, Beyond Sausages and Beyond Meatballs. Promising consumers the “juicy, tender and delicious bite of seared steak tips with the added nutritional and environmental benefits of plant-based meat”, Beyond claims the new range will satisfy “meat lovers and flexitarians alike.”

“Beyond Steak is a highly-anticipated expansion of our popular beef platform and we’re proud to introduce this innovative product to consumers nationwide,” said Dariush Ajami, Beyond Meat’s Chief Innovation Officer, adding that “Beyond Steak delivers the taste and texture of sliced steak in a way that is better for both people and the planet.”

The company says the new product is low in saturated fat, contains no cholesterol and will deliver 21 grams of protein per serve along with a “lower environmental impact.” Beyond also cites research from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that “found improvement in key health metrics when participants replaced animal-based meat with Beyond Meat’s plant-based meat.”

Beyond has also set its sights on the QSR market in Australia and abroad, launching the McPlant burger in collaboration with McDonalds earlier this year.
