Australian plant-based meat and dairy brand, Made With Plants, announced it is expanding its range to over 500 Coles stores nationwide.
Consumers may now purchase a wide range of the company’s products including its plant-based mozzarella, bacon, deli style ham, and roast chicken.
Made With Plants has been retailing in Woolworths stores across the country since 2019. A Coles spokesperson previously told media sources that the supermarket had “seen a rise in the ‘flexitarian’ [space,] and people seeking out alternative protein sources,” which is why the brand is committed to expanding its range of vegetarian and vegan options.
Coles also recently partnered with vegetable firm Nutri V to launch a range of vegetable powders made from discarded imperfect vegetables in Australia.
Cale Drouin, the co-founder of Made With Plants, said: “Whether you’re a flexitarian, vegetarian, vegan, or simply looking to try new, tasty plant-based options, Made With Plants is proud to offer delicious alternatives that stack up against conventional meat and dairy,” Mr Drouin said.
The increasing amount of plant-based products at large-sized retailers is occurring in line with overall growth in the domestic industry – Food Frontier’s 2023 State of the Industry report found that the total market size for plant-based meats in Australia has enjoyed a compound annual growth rate of 13.8% since 2020, though consumer uptake in 2023 was slower than expected.
Food Frontier identified reducing prices, improving the taste and texture of products, and focusing on nutrition and health as the prerequisites for increasing consumer uptake of plant-based meat products.
