After taking the reins as Food Frontier’s CEO in April 2022, Jane Sydenham-Clarke has left the alternative protein think tank.
Established in 2017 as Australia and New Zealand’s alternative protein think tank, Food Frontier was founded by Thomas King, who transitioned to Chair once King told Future Alternative that Sydenham-Clarke played a key role in helping Food Frontier transition out of the ‘start-up phase.’ “Food Frontier has been in a key period of growth and transition as we exit start-up phase and launch a new brand and website, establish updated policies and procedures, and welcome additional staff and board members. “An executive leader joining for such a period to help enable transition and strengthen foundations is not uncommon for a young organisation that is evolving, and we’re incredibly grateful for Jane’s contributions to our growth and establishing corporate practices in 2022. We are now looking for an Executive Director who can build on this great work and take Food Frontier into its next chapter.” This next chapter includes the planning and execution of AltProteins23, Food Frontier’s annual conference for the alternative protein conference, this year to be hosted in Melbourne in October. Commenting on her departure online, Sydenham-Clarke said “Thank you so much friends and colleagues for your collaboration in 2022. It was my privilege to cross paths and warmly connect with so many alt protein pioneers and to share so many inspiring moments towards a safe and sustainable future for our people and our planet. “As my tenure as Food Frontier’s CEO has come to a close, I share my immense gratitude to Thomas and all directors, to the advisory council, my colleagues and to the brilliant ecosystem of extraordinary generous change-making leaders across the globe – for courageously driving us forward in critical collective impact. Thank you for your support and for the difference you are making.” Listen to our podcast interview with Sydenham-Clarke below, where she discusses her work at Food Frontier, what attracted her to the organisation and what the Australian alt protein sector needs to thrive.
